How to Disable a Proxy Server
Need to disable a proxy server? Proxy servers are great for ISPs as they allow them to cache frequently downloaded data and store it on their central computers. By doing this, they save on data costs because users are fetching the data from the local source instead of long distance or overseas. The problem is that proxy servers can often be slow and make it difficult for any web browsing you do.
The first thing you can do to disable the proxy server is check the internet settings in the web browser you use. More often than not you can do this by going to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings, and uncheck all boxes (proxy and auto detect). The exact menu titles and settings may be slightly different, but this should point you in the right direction on how to disable the proxy server in your web browser. Unfortunately, you may find that your web browser is not setup to use a proxy server and have no way of disabling it.
If the proxy server is not setup in your web browser, it might be that your ISP is forcing all traffic on their network through a proxy server without giving you the choice of disabling it. You have two options. The first would be to change ISPs. Obviously this might be costly and time consuming or not even an option. The second choice is to setup your own proxy server. By doing this you will be able to change your IP even though your ISP may be forcing you through their own proxy setup.
Disabling a proxy server is usually very easy to do and is just a matter of changing some options in your web browser to stop your computer from using the proxy server.
